Inter Miami and Adidas had a hard time coping with the sold-out Lionel Messi jerseys last season before a novel idea of selling old Herons’ jerseys with Messi’s name helped them. Shirts bearing Messi’s iconic number 10 sold out almost immediately upon the announcement of his transfer from PSG, with sales outstripping even that of NFL icon Tom Brady upon his switch to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It looks like they could face a similar battle for the coming season after it emerged that the images of the home kit Messi and his teammates will be donning have been leaked.

Just hours ago, Footy Headlines released the 2024 Inter Miami’s home kit. As the leaked images show, Adidas has decided to keep things simple yet elegant. Instead of going with the typical light pink, this time the German clothing brand has turned things around for David Beckham‘s soccer franchise and will launch the kit in a much darker shade. The color ‘Easy Pink‘ has a slightly redder pink hue than the previous real pink. The logo of Adidas will be at the center and below will be Miami’s main sponsor, with three stripes running along the shoulder line. The photos show a smaller version meant for kids, which means the emblem has different dimensions than the adult’s fit.

From the looks of it, Inter Miami’s 2024 home uniform is completely blank of any patterns or graphics. Interestingly, it is also based on the same design as Argentina’s World Cup-winning home shirt from 2022. Messi’s impact at Inter Miami has been evident not only on the pitch but also away from it. FootyHeadlines revealed that Inter Miami will be one of the five MLS sides to get a third kit for the next season. Not only that but this kit will be inspired by the colors of two-time Super Bowl champions.

Lionel Messi and Co.’s third kit is inspired by Miami Dolphins

MLS sides need to sell a certain number of kits—100,000, presumably—to be eligible for third kits. Adidas had already signed agreements for third kits for Major League Soccer teams before Lionel Messi arrived at Inter Miami. But things changed with Messi at Inter Miami as Adidas is now looking to provide The Herons with a third kit as well. Inter regularly sold out Messi’s jersey last season and it appears to have helped them to get a third kit.

The team plans to debut a ‘blue mint’ color, which is similar to the NFL’s Miami DolphinsFurthermore, Adidas intends to release third kits for multiple teams in 2024, including Los Angeles FC, the LA Galaxy, Kansas City, and the Portland Timbers.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
