The Saudi Pro League is leaving no stone unturned to cement its status as a premier soccer destination. Already boasting the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim BenzemaNeymar, and many other world-class talents, the Middle Eastern country is keen to lure additional luminaries. Among the latest names circulating in the transfer rumor mill is that of Kevin De Bruyne. Despite facing rejection from the Manchester City star, the Gulf League remains undeterred, as they will redouble their efforts to secure the sensational midfielder.

This surprising update comes from Belgium-based journalist Sacha Tavolieri. De Bruyne, who is set to turn 33 in June, has emerged as a principal target this summer for Saudi soccer authorities. Although no formal offer has been made yet, they plan to make a concerted effort following the conclusion of UEFA Euro 2024 to persuade the former Wolfsburg man. In fact, contrary to previous reports, De Bruyne is also open to the idea of moving to the Middle East.

Earlier, reports said that Al Nassr had made an offer of $75 million to Pep Guardiola and Co. to sign De Bruyne. Likewise, the Knights of the Najd even offered a lucrative contract to the Belgian international, with a promise of tripling the current wages that he earns in Manchester. Furthermore, Al Nassr’s rivals are also in the race for his signature. However, the former Chelsea player debunked the rumors, expressing his desire to continue at the Etihad and fulfill his contract, which expires in 2025. But there remains a winding twist.

At present, De Bruyne’s primary focus remains on concluding a successful season with Manchester City. In addition to aiding his team in their pursuit of the top spot in the Premier League, he aims to defend the Champions League title as well. De Bruyne had already missed half of the season due to a long-term injury suffered in the first half. Now that he is back, City will be looking to capitalize on his presence.
