Bruno Fernandes’ goal claimed by Cristiano Ronaldo

The Group H game was crucial for both teams. After a draw in the first game, Uruguay was desperate for a win to keep their knockout chances alive. Portugal dominated the proceedings, and a brace from Fernandes was sufficient for them to book the spot in the knockouts. On the other hand, Uruguay will have to wait until the last game to know its fate.

It was the 54th-minute goal from Fernandes, which Ronaldo claimed, that made Piers Morgan tweet. Morgan, in his tweet, tagged Ronaldo and appreciated him. Andy Murray was quick to respond to the tweet, as the replay showed there was no touch from Ronaldo.

Murray, taking a dig at Morgan, tweeted, “I think Bruno Fernandes is the Twitter handle you were looking for.”

The hilarious tweet drew some funny reactions from the fans. It was not the first time Murray had done this. Two days back, when Lionel Messi scored a brilliant opener against Mexico, he tweeted tagging Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo’s interview with Morgan is still at the center of attraction. Whenever such things happen around Ronaldo, soccer fans, and sports personalities troll Ronaldo and Morgan together. It looks like the trend will continue for some time.

The victory against Uruguay saw Portugal qualify for the knockouts. They are the third team with a 100 percent record in this edition of the FIFA World Cup, alongside France and Brazil, who also made it to the knockouts. Portugal is in contention to top Group H if they draw or win against South Korea. Meanwhile, the other three teams in the group will fight for the remaining spot.

Portugal’s possible opponent for a round of 16 will come from Group G. Brazil has already made it to the knockouts and are likely to finish on the top. If Portugal tops their group, they will face a second-placed team from Group G, which currently is Switzerland.
