Conor McGregor made his victorious return at UFC 246 against Donald Cerrone. The fight only lasted for 40 seconds and Cerrone could not even throw a single significant strike. While some believe it was a moment of magic from Conor McGregor some believe it was Donald Cerrone who gave up under the bright lights. In a recent interview, Khabib Nurmagomedov gives a verdict on the showdown between Conor and Cowboy.

Leading up to the fight between Conor and Cowboy, when Khabib was asked about the fight he had already said that a fight with Donald Cerrone is not an impressive matchup for Conor. He brought up the record of Cowboy, which has a lot of losses to quality opponents. Now after the fight Khabib’s perspective on the fight has not changed at all as he believes UFC gave Conor an easy fight.

Khabib Nurmagomedov calls Conor McGregor vs Donald Cerrone a Circus

Khabib Nurmagomedov gave his insights about Cowboy and said that he was a perfect opponent for Conor’s return. Khabib believes that Cowboy losses when it comes to big fight because he is mentally weak. Though Khabib does not think that the fight was fixed he believes that UFC handpicked an easy opponent for Conor. Khabib said:

“A big organization with a lot of history won’t take such risks. If someone finds out that the fight was fixed, it would be a huge blow to the UFC’s reputation. They picked a good opponent though – an opponent that never won anything serious. He could have kept winning and winning and when it came time for a big fight, and just gave up because he’s mentally weak. It’s just a well-organized circus.”

It’s hard to disagree with Khabib on this one. Donald Cerrone was coming off two losses from Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson. Considering that record, UFC president, Dana White claims that a win over Cowboy would earn Conor the title shot makes no sense at all. Though Conor put up an impressive performance it was not enough to convince Khabib to grant him a rematch.

However, Dana White is certain that Conor fights for the title next. Now who will be the next opponent of Conor and when will Conor fight for the title depends on the outcome of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson.
