Despite Former Opponent Conor McGregor Making His Fortune Against Floyd Mayweather, Nate Diaz Claims “The Money Is in MMA”

MMA veteran Nate Diaz announced the launch of his own fight promotion, Real Fight Inc. His promotion was open to hosting boxing, mixed martial arts, and jiu-jitsu fights. But the Stockton native recently revealed that the card for the first promotional event may include just MMA fights because he believes he can make more money in MMA.
Nate Diaz will be facing YouTube sensation Jake Paul on August 5th in Dallas, Texas. His promotion is collaborating with Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions for their boxing match. After the press conference for their fight, Nate Diaz shed light on the plans for Real Fight Inc’s first major event.
Nate Diaz claims that there is more money in MMA

The media outlets caught hold of the ‘West Coast Gangster’ after his press conference with Jake Paul to ask him regarding which combat sport disciple will be featured more on his own promotion. Nate Diaz insisted that they might push for an MMA card for the first event of Real Fight Inc. Diaz said, “I think the first card that we’re gonna have, it’s gonna be an MMA card.”

But Nate Diaz didn’t snub the idea of organizing boxing fights as well. “Maybe we wanna mix in boxing, but first and foremost [preference is] MMA,” said the former UFC star. Diaz also claims that there is a lot more money in MMA than people think. He added, “I feel like the money is in MMA. You know what I’m saying?”
Revenue stats contradict Diaz’s claim
For a long time, boxing has been the biggest combat sport in the world. From the creation of iconic legends like Muhammad Ali to high-earning fighters like Floyd Mayweather, this sport has dominated the fighting world. Even fighter pay has become one of the major issues of concern in MMA, primarily in the UFC. It was surprising for many people to hear that Nate Diaz had a different opinion.

Floyd Mayweather is an excellent example of how much money boxers can make. He has a number of fights under his belt that have racked up a lot of money in revenue. ‘Money’s Fight against Manny Pacquiao in 2015, which was dubbed as the ‘Fight of the Century’, earned him a reported £223.5 million ($283 million). Mayweather now sits at a reported net worth of $460 million. Even his former rival Conor McGregor made the most money when he fought Mayweather in 2017 and took home a reported $70 million.

It could be argued that Nate Diaz may have earned a lot of money during his stint in the UFC. He has always been a major draw and fans never seem to get enough of him. However, to believe that MMA as a whole has more money than boxing contradicts all the fighters’ claims of getting massively underpaid for their fights.
