Floyd Mayweather is undoubtedly one of the greatest boxers to ever grace the sport. As such, he recently made a claim about being the greatest of all time. While the fans found it hard to agree with that statement, ‘Money’ garnered support from one of his old rivals and former UFC champion, Conor McGregor.

Floyd Mayweather, known for his swiftness, has a record of 50-0. He is one of the few fighters who retired without suffering a loss during his entire career. While there is a lot of debate regarding the best boxer of all time, Conor McGregor seems to be on ‘Money’s side.

‘The Notorious’ is the biggest icon in the world of mixed martial arts. He has had numerous big-money fights in the UFC and also had one of the biggest boxing matches against Floyd Mayweather. Although he did not win the fight, he went ten rounds before suffering a TKO defeat. Since then, they’ve shown respect for each other. However, they are still not on the best of terms.

Meanwhile, an Instagram page with the username ‘boxingkingmedia’ shared a video where Floyd Mayweather made a bold statement. The statement in question is a claim from ‘Money’ that he is the greatest boxer of all time. He mentioned how he defeated the most world champions, made the most money, and even the fact that he’s the most accurate puncher ever. This prompted a surprising response from Conor McGregor.

Conor McGregor noticed the post on Instagram and decided to give it a like. It was unusual to see the Irishman support Mayweather since they have had a lot of bad blood since the time they fought each other. Moreover, even WBC champion Tyson Fury also gave the post a like. However, fans on social did not take too kindly to Floyd Mayweather’s claim.

Fans disagree with ‘Money’s statement

The fans did not side with what Floyd Mayweather had to say. Although they believe he is a great boxer, they do not rate him as the greatest of all time. That moniker was given to Muhammad Ali.

“I like Mayweather, but the greatest of all time is ALI!”

“Not the greatest of all time … he’s great tho”

Meanwhile, some fans compared him to Tyson Fury and accused him of dodging several fights in his career. In addition to that, they also picked Manny Pacquiao as the better boxer than Floyd Mayweather.

Some fans also took a jibe at Floyd Mayweather, claiming that he never fought boxers in their prime. They believe that he handpicked most of his opponents.

“He didn’t beat the best at their best.”

“Most Hand picked fights? Floyd msyweather”

“Never undisputed. Got gift decisions. Ducked prime competitors.”

The fans clearly did not buy what Floyd Mayweather was selling. They straight away refused to accept him as the best. Nevertheless, he has an outstanding and exceptional career. Mayweather became such a big icon that he found himself as one of the few celebrities to make a mark on other industries, such as wrestling in WrestleMania.
