Significantly, it becomes even more difficult if one’s grandfather is one of the most iconic personalities in the history of humankind, Muhammad Ali. Such is the case with Biaggio Ali Walsh; who decided to drift away from the family’s trademark sport: boxing.

Notably, Walsh recently signed a developmental contract with the PFL. In a conversation with Bleacher Report, the fighter discussed the start of his MMA career. Also, the upcoming fighter touched upon the criticism that comes with the ‘Ali’ legacy.

When quizzed about the younger generation making quick money while enjoying the spotlight created by someone else, the 24-year-old hit back with a rhetorical question. However, very few, like Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, form part of the other category and end up becoming as popular as their predecessors or surpassing them.

The amateur fighter asked, “Would you not?” Following this, Walsh further in the same tone asked, “…Would you not try to take any opportunity you can to become successful?”

Dismissing the talks of cashing in his grandfather’s legacy, the new PFL signee stated he was like any other fighter. Also, he mentioned he was trying to create a name for himself.

Subsequently, Walsh maintained every fighter wanted to create their name and legacy. On a similar note, he declared, “I’m no different than any other fighter.” Later on, he stated he was doing the same thing. However, the only difference that separated him from the pack was that his grandfather was a famous icon.

The future PFL prospect subsequently opened up about taking MMA as a career. He thus continued and explained that he didn’t want to be 35 and then think of the not taken possibilities in MMA.
Further, he expressed he didn’t want ‘would I have been good?’ questions later in his life. Therefore, referring to his young age as an advantage, Walsh resolved to give his MMA career a shot.
