“God Pretended to Be MJ” – When Joe Rogan Detailed Why Michael Jordan Is Still the ‘Top-Pick’ Over Other NBA Legends

UFC commentator and combat sports enthusiast Joe Rogan had shared his opinion of Michael Jordan and ‘The Last Dance’ documentary in his popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. In podcast #1471 with Tony Hinchcliffe, he touched on various topics that ranged from MJ’s shoe deal, the relevance of sport if sports were not there, and the comparison between baseball and basketball.

The conversation centered majorly around ESPN and Netflix’s recently released documentary ‘The Last Dance’. The documentary dives deep into the 1990s Chicago Bulls and the viewers get a locker room perspective of the events.

What did Joe Rogan say about Michael Jordan?

Talking about MJ, Rogan said, “He is super winner.” He added further, “he stands out among winners as being so exceptional that everybody like who’s the goat? Michael Jordan is always the first pick.”

Subsequently, he shared an incident that seconds his opinion. He disclosed that MJ used to host celebrity pool tournaments for charity in Chicago and “he would hate you if you beat him.

Joe Rogan further emphasized Jordan’s winner mentality, and how that quality was admired by other athletes as well. In support of it, he shared Larry Bird’s famous quote about MJ when MJ dropped 63 points in a playoff game against Boston Celtics in 1986. Rogan said, “it was God pretended to be MJ.”

In JRE #1471, Joe Rogan and Hinchcliffe also talked about the time when MJ quit basketball in the middle of his career and wanted to excel at baseball. He made the switch in 1994 after the devastating murder of his father, partly because as a tribute to him and partly because he wanted to become the best at baseball.

Tony Hinchcliffe shared an interesting perspective when he gave details about the only time when MJ and Kobe Bryant faced each other. He goes on to describe that it was a rare occurrence, as both the legends of the game belonged to different conferences.

The 1998 NBA All-Star Game witnessed both sharing the opponent’s half, both players being at different stages of their careers. The result- Jordon wins the MVP of the All-Star game, “crushing against a young Kobe Bryant.
