3 Years After Blinding Flying Knee KO, Ben Askren Makes a ‘20 Years’ Demand From Jorge Masvidal

Jorge Masvidal is one of the most reputed fighters in the UFC. The ’37-year-old’, hails from Miami, Florida, and is famous for his sensational striking inside the Octagon. ‘Gamebred’ is the ‘BMF’ of the UFC, a title he won in a fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 244. His hard kicks and brutal knees have also subjected his opponents to hard times inside the octagon. The ‘BMF’ of the UFC holds the record for the fastest knockout in the history of the UFC, which he achieved with a ‘running knee’ to the head of his opponent, Ben Askren.
Recently, a reel related to this ‘fastest knockout’ was uploaded on the Instagram page of ‘MMAFighting.com’. It showcased Ben Askren, talking to Ariel Helwani’, a famed MMA coverage reporter. Askren stated that Masvidal should be grateful to him for that knockout.

Ben Askren wanted his due credit from Jorge Masvidal
‘MMAFighting.com’ captioned their post as “@benaskren wants Christmas cards “every year for the next 20 years” #TheMMAHour”. Askren started off things in the video as he explained how that ‘3-sec’ knockout made Masvidal a reputed name in the UFC. He stated, “And then, the journey went bum. Masvidal became one of the biggest stars of the game.”

Although Masvidal never thanked Askren for making him a noted face of the game by getting knocked out, still Askren was sarcastically generous enough as he said, “You’re welcome Jorge”.

Helwani wanted to know whether Askren had received any admiration from Masvidal as he questioned, “Do you think he appreciates you for that?”
Askren made his thoughts clear, stating, “If he doesn’t, he’s an ungrateful son of a b**ch, how about that?”. It was apparent that Askren strongly thought Masvidal should’ve accredited him for the rise of his status in the UFC.
Askren demanded Christmas Cards from Masvidal as tokens of appreciation
Masvidal’s ‘running knee’ knockout is one of the most discussed events in the history of the UFC. It probably has uplifted Masvidal’s status in the UFC. But, Askren went a bit too ambitious as he demanded tokens of appreciation from Masvidal regarding this.
He stated, “He needs to send me a Christmas Card for the next 20 years. But legit, if he does it, it’s ungrateful”.

Askren was also disappointed that to date Masvidal had never valued his contribution towards his rise in the franchise. He was visibly enraged at Masvidal, snubbing him without any appreciation. He mentioned how Masvidal “won’t give” him “credit for anything”. In the end, he went rogue as he stated, “so s**k it Jorge”.
