A lot has been going on in the UFC’s welterweight division recently. After becoming the new champion, Leon Edwards spoke about Jorge Masvidal as the fight he definitely wants. Knowing their bitter rivalry and backstage brawl, it is not surprising.

The Jamaican-born English UFC fighter has also stated that the fight won’t ‘make sense’ for the company to organize. Although, the champion believes there is one reason to sell it to the fans.
Gamebred’s manager, however, has disagreed with the fighter’s statement and posted his counter-argument on Twitter.
Leon Edwards wants to meet Jorge Masvidal in the Octagon
Edwards faced off against Kamaru Usman at UFC 278. The highly anticipated event saw the two majestic fighters, in their dominant forms. The 31-year-old fighter ultimately edged out his opponent to claim the welterweight championship title.

The UFC fighter, when asked about his choice of opponent, stated “Masvidal is the one I definitely want to have.” Thus, he chose ‘Gamebred’ over everyone else. But also admitted, Masvidal’s recent streak of 3 consecutive losses didn’t make a suitable case for him.
“He keeps losing it’s difficult to make it make sense for the company…” addressing how the fight won’t excite the fans as much.

He spoke about how it would be easy to get a match against Conor McGregor. He said “Conor would be one that would be easy to make” but stated that Masvidal was still up on his list.
The fighter added there Masvidal could climb up to the challenge by winning some big fights. Edwards even stated that he would happily put the championship belt on the line for it.
Jorge Gamebred Masvidal has suffered three defeats in his last three outings. Losing once against Colby Covington and twice against Kamaru Usman.
Gamebred’s manager, Malki Kawa, took to Twitter and replied to Leon Edwards’ statement. He said the audience would love to see the revenge battle between Leon Edwards and Masvidal.

The duo had a bout at UFC 269 that was canceled due to Masvidal’s injury. Hence, a bout between the two has been pending for ages.
