Troy Gibson bears the brunt of a referee mistake
Troy Gibson made his professional MMA debut recently on Saturday, against Vadim Kolesnikov.
Gibson got in control during the fight and was on top of Kolesnikov. The Russian fighter, in an effort to get back on top, hammered his opponent’s head with his knee. The debutant had to bear more than a dozen such illegal knees in the same position, but referee Peter Lavery saw nothing wrong.
Eventually, after Gibson was stunned by the blows, Kolesnikov took the advantageous position.
Kolesnikov then dropped a huge punch onto a stunned opponent. Which is when Lavery snapped back to his senses and stopped the fight.

Severe MMA journalist, Andy Stevenson, reported the incident on Twitter. Stevenson updated the issue and informed that Troy Gibson ultimately won the fight as Kolesnikov got disqualified due to his foul act.
He also announced that they have disbanded the officials from the competition as a result of their poor judgment:

The terrible officiators are called out by fans who were disappointed with the lack of quality displayed. Many fans were happy to know that the referee and his team have since been let go.
