After ‘You’re Going To Die’ Warning, UFC Told To Keep Tony Ferguson Away From UFC Vegas 64 Winner, Who Handed Olympic Silver Medalist His First Loss

The UFC Vegas 64 on November 5 at UFC Apex Arena, Las Vegas kept the fans excited for the event as the card offered well-matched fights. While the main event offered the path for the women’s strawweight title contender, the main card opener also promised fireworks to the fans. And a lightweight contest offered an interesting callout to the UFC legend, Tony Ferguson.

The main card opener, a 155 lbs fight, between undefeated Danish fighter Mark Madsen and American Grant Dawson, who was on a 10-fight undefeated streak.

What happened in the fight at UFC Vegas 64?

The fight started with the expected approach by Dawson, as the ‘KGD’ employed his wrestling tool effectively. Dawson remained on the Danish fighter’s back the entire first round.

The second round offered a similar sight as Dawson again dominated on the mat. Subsequently, the ‘American Top Team’ representative switched gears in the final round and employed explosive and heavy punches. These punches followed a submission attempt and this time, ‘KGD’ finally made his opponent tap via rear naked choke.

Significantly, the fighter who accepted the fight on short notice called out Tony Ferguson in his post-fight interview. Hence, he said, “Vas a morir [you are going to die].”

Further, Dawson pointed out that he had replaced Tony Ferguson in the rankings and declared, “If Tony wants to come and try and get that spot back, I’m more than willing to defend my newly ranked position against Tony Ferguson next”.

How did the fans react?

The American fighter Dawson displayed an all-round performance by putting in excellent wrestling skills, followed by heavy and effective punches. Therefore, the 28-year-old had a perfect outing and got his hand lifted in the Octagon. However, the fans had a different reaction to his call out to Tony Ferguson.

One fan pleaded for the fight to not take place. Thus, they wrote, “Please don’t do Dawson v. Ferguson. Let Ferg fight cans at 170 please.”
