Alex Pereira is currently one of the biggest stars in the UFC as of now. The Brazilian ace successfully captured two divisional world titles in just two years after joining Dana White‘s promotion. Now, ‘Poatan’ could be looking to compete in the heavyweight division, which has gotten UFC fans excited.

Alex Pereira was a double champion in Glory Kickboxing before joining the UFC. He made a similar impact in the world’s biggest MMA promotion and quickly captured the middleweight and light heavyweight titles in just seven fights. Meanwhile, he recently made an appearance in an interview with ‘TheMacLife’, where he discussed the potential of him fighting in another division. Let’s have a look at that front.

‘Poatan’ looks like he’s planning for what’s ahead of him. He recently mentioned having no interest in fighting Israel Adesanya again and is considering a move to the heavyweight division. However, Alex Pereira is not going to leave any stone unturned if he does decide to make that move. Although he has the physique to compete in the heavyweight division, the light heavyweight champion wants to be fully prepared before making that move. Pereira said, “I’ll fight anybody, anywhere. I have the height and the size of a heavyweight, but this is a thing that’s got to be programmed, put some work in.”

Furthermore, the Brazilian ace also mentioned that he cannot take the move to the heaviest division in the UFC lightly. He mentioned that there is a chance that he might make the jump, but not right now. “It’s not just something I jump in on. I want to make things the right way. I can definitely fight at heavyweight. Maybe someday in the future,” ‘Poatan’ added. These statements seemingly excited the fans as they shared their reactions on Instagram. Let’s see what they had to say.

Some fans also agreed with Alex Pereira, who claimed that he needed to get ready before making the move to the heavyweight division. However, some fans were skeptical of his success in the heaviest UFC division, as they sided with Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall getting the better of him.

“Agreed, cause you walk into Tom like that, it’s gonna be a short night.”

“Pereira is a savage. Hard to doubt him, whatever he decides to do. But that said, I’d lean Jones or Aspinall.”

“So like Jones. Take time off, properly bulk and make sure the cardio maintains.”
