At UFC 315, Jack Della Maddalena is set to come out guns blazing against Belal Muhammad in a bid to seize the welterweight crown. The Australian knockout artist is confident he can pick apart the reigning champ. Now that’s a serious problem for Muhammad, whose grind-it-out style has earned him a string of unanimous decision wins. It’s a classic clash: elite wrestling vs. precision striking. Amid the growing buzz, former two-division UFC champion, Daniel Cormier has stepped in with a pointed piece of advice for Muhammad as the storm approaches.

Jack Della Maddalena has proven to be a nightmare for wrestlers. When he fought Gilbert Burns at UFC 299, the Aussie convinced everyone that he might be the kryptonite to all the wrestlers in the division. His precision striking and tremendous power have been the backbone of his career, and with the addition of his sweeps, things aren’t looking good for Belal Muhammad. Well, agree or not, the Aussie is a problem for Muhammad. So, what can ‘Remember the Name’ do to keep his belt with him?

While having a conversation on his YouTube handle, Daniel Cormier has pointed out what Muhammad would have to do to secure his first title defense, “If Belal Muhammad is going to be successful in his first title defense, he has to look and fight in the same way that he fought Leon Edwards. He’s got to have a lot of pressure, he’s got to secure takedowns, and he’s got to keep Jack guessing. Because if Jack Della Maddalena is able to just stand and strike with him, Belal is going to be out of his element.”

He further added, “But when he mixes everything together—the wrestling, the takedowns, the striking—he can fight anyone, and he really can overwhelm you. That is why he knocked out Sean Brady, and that is why he truly outclassed Leon “Rocky” Edwards. So Belal Muhammad has to be that full mixed martial artist, and the pressure has got to be—it’s got to be very present.”

With a record of 17 victories and only 2 defeats, Jack Della Maddalena boasts a finishing rate of 83%, which stands in stark contrast to Belal Muhammad, who has finished only 25% of his fights. The Aussie knows how to navigate pressure situations, making it extremely difficult for Muhammad to break through. However, if Muhammad performs like he did against Leon Edwards, the outcome could be very different.

Daniel Cormier has one advice for the champ, and that is to keep applying pressure and not let Maddalena connect his shots to him. ‘DC’ has set out his plan, but will it be enough to keep Della Maddalena at bay? Let’s find out.

Jack Della Maddalena promises to ‘Outclass’ Belal Muhammad in his own game

The Australian knockout artist is just days away from the biggest fight of his career—one that could change everything—and he’s prepared to give it his all. Jack Della Maddalena wants just one thing from Canada right now: the welterweight gold. If ‘JDM’ takes the belt, then he would be the first Australian to claim the welterweight title for his country. But, is he ready? Well, according to him, he is much more than just ready!

What’s your perspective on:

Is Belal Muhammad's pressure game enough to stop Jack Della Maddalena from making history in Montreal?

Have an interesting take?

While talking with MMA Junkie, Della Maddalena expressed that he plans on taking Muhammad to the deep waters: “It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve competed. I’m itching to get in there. I love competing. I’m really keen to get those fight feelings, get another win and obviously get that championship belt and outclass Belal.”

Belal’s success hinges on his chain wrestling and pace. He makes them carry his weight, and drown in deep waters. Fighters like Stephen Thompson and Demian Maia couldn’t get comfortable because Belal didn’t give them room to breathe. That needs to be the blueprint here, too.

He further added, “Obviously, my first line of defense is stopping the takedown. I think I can do that. The more I can stop that initial takedown, it’s going to make it easier for me. I’m ready to go off my back. I’ll be the one attacking. I believe I’ve got some tricks to get back to my feet. That’s where I want to be, but first line of defense is 100 percent stop the takedown and make the fight a lot easier for myself.”

And that’s the X-factor. Della Maddalena is willing to engage and escape, then punish. His footwork, especially when circling away from power shots and level changes, is something Belal must respect, or risk walking into something clean. If he wins, he becomes the first Australian to capture the UFC welterweight title, adding to his country’s growing MMA legacy behind legends like Alexander Volkanovski and Robert Whittaker.

And one question looms large: Will Belal’s pressure be enough to smother the Aussie storm, or is Montreal about to witness a violent changing of the guard? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
