Charles Oliveira defeated Michael Chandler at UFC 262 to become the undisputed UFC lightweight champion. It was a phenomenal performance from ‘Do Bronx’. He overcame early adversity in round 1 and knocked out ‘Iron’ in the second round to claim UFC gold.
Oliveira had a familiar face, in Conor McGregor, reacting to win. The Brazilian became the 11th lightweight champion in the history of the UFC. ‘The Notorious’ took note of that and tweeted out to congratulate the newly crowned champion. However, the Irishman didn’t fail to take a dig on Oliveira as well.
Congrats to Olivera on becoming the 11th UFC lightweight champion.

‘Do Bronx’ was asked about a potential fight between him and the former two-division champion in the future. Oliveira entertained the possibility. However, he pointed out that McGregor has to get past Dustin Poirier first at UFC 264. He challenged ‘The Notorious’ to a fight in Brazil given the latter wins against Poirier in July.

“Yeah, that’d be fantastic. Conor, since you are so tough, first of all beat Dustin and them come over to Brazil. I wanna put you on your a**,” said Oliveira when asked about a potential future fight against McGregor. “First, he has to pass Dustin. He’s just one of these guys that talks a lot. He’s gotta beat Dustin first,” he further added.

McGregor is set to fight Poirier to complete their trilogy in July. Given he wins that, one can expect ‘The Notorious’ to fight for the belt again. McGregor has previously been a lightweight champion when he defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
Stylistically, a fight between McGregor and Oliveira promises to be a barn-burner. Oliveira proved he is a cream of the crop fighter with his incredible win against Chandler. There’s no doubt he will relish the opportunity to test himself against the Irishman. However, for that to happen other factors have to fall into place as well.
