The news of Joe Rogan not commentating on UFC 271 was a shock. While it was initially reported that Rogan’s exit was because of a scheduling conflict, Dana White cleared up the confusion and said that it was the commentator’s decision.

Rogan’s presence at UFC events was not just limited to commentating. For fans, his presence meant so much more than that. In a recent video, Chael Sonnen hit the nail on the head and expressed what fans have been wanting to hear. The retired MMA fighter spoke about how Rogan elicited emotions within the spectators.

Sonnen said, “I’ll tell you one thing that Joe does that other people can’t do. … The post-fight in-ring interview, that is the most difficult things that you will see.”
He also described how anybody calling the fight would be the same. However, the in-ring interviews are what Rogan does the best.

“Joe specifically in this moment, it is hard to do an in-ring interview that isn’t painful. You go in there, the person’s tired, they want to say their peace to the world, but they’re not overly thrilled to be saying it to you. You’re guiding where this is going to go. Not to mention, they’re going to three questions out the door. Push it about 45 seconds, they’d like to thank some people. Maybe they got a mouthpiece in. They’re huffing and puffing. They’ve been punched. It’s a tough moment and Joe can go in there and have a conversation.”
Sonnen said that Rogan can keep the conversation light and playful. He thinks the commentator was born with the skill.
