Jon Jones yet again proved that he deserves to be at the top after he defeated Ciryl Gane in his heavyweight debut at UFC 285. The fight ended with Jones earning a victory via submission in the first round. Although the fighter is one of the most loved warriors in the UFC, fans might not be able to watch his live fights for much longer. The fighter himself hinted at looking for retirement, seemingly following in the footsteps of Khabib Nurmagomedov and George St-Pierre.
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Brandon Gibson declared that ‘Bones’ might walk away early and retire. Immediately, the famed MMA reporter expressed his surprise at the comment. However, Gibson seemingly backed it off with his reasons. The video later found its way to social media platforms, and the fans took control of the comments section. Without a doubt, the fans seemed unhappy with what Gibson said about Jones.

Fans react to Gibson’s opinion of Jon Jones
During the talks in the recent episode of ‘The MMA Hour’, Gibson revealed, “I think Jon’s gonna be one of those athletes that, that walks away early.” The statement undeniably caught Helwani by surprise. Furthermore, Gibson said, “I think Jon will ride off in the sunset and us as MMA fans will still be like, clamoring for one more, talking about potential matchups. But, I don’t think Jon’s gonna have too much more to prove.”
Helwani then asked whether Stipe Miocic would be the last opponent for the former light heavyweight champion. However, Jones’ coach admitted that he did not know. Moreover, he added that the ultimate decision lay with Jones himself.

Here is what the fans said:
- He beats Stipe and it’s over. Nothing left to prove.
- After Stipe i think he should hang the gloves up.
- If he beats Stipe there is no one in the top 10 that I think Jones would be interested in.
- I think he should walk away after the Stipe fight. He should walk away as the champion
- Can’t call it early with the career Jon had.
- He’s been in the UFC for 13 years… active for 10, what does this guy mean early
- Early? He could have never came back and was still the GOAT lol
- hes 35 years old, even if he retired today i dont think anyone would consider it an early retirement.
- Yeah after Stipe hes probably done
- I think after 1-2 more fights he retires but that wouldn’t be early imo. If he wins those fights I think the fans won’t care for other matchups cuz it will show how dominant he was
Without a doubt, the fighter has proven himself multiple times. The fans united to support Jones’ decision and would definitely bid him farewell with respect if he chose to.
