The Australian fighter is currently on an impressive nine-fight win streak. He will face Brian Ortega at UFC 266 in a featherweight title bout. The match is the headliner at the pay-per-view. It will also feature a five-round non-title bout between Nick Diaz and Robbie Lawler.

‘The Great’ was on an amazing ten-fight win streak when he faced the Japanese fighter. The Australian native showed his power in the very first round of the fight. He kept Kasuya on the mat for most of the time. However, the round ended with both the fighters standing on their feet.

Volkanovski dominated again in the second round. He was leaving no chances to hit Kasuya with his hard punches. Kasuya rolled for a leg lock after Volkanovski’s takedown. However, Kasuya left his head exposed and Volkanovski rained his punches to the side of the head, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

Second Round Finish against Jeremy Kennedy

The 22-1 record holder won three fights in a row after his debut in the UFC. He faced Jeremy Kennedy, 3-0 in the UFC in a featherweight bout at UFC 221. Both the fighters were on a three-fight win streak before they faced inside the octagon. It was a much-anticipated featherweight bout.

Jeremy took down ‘The Great’ in just 30 seconds after the first bell. However, Volkanovski quickly retaliated and got Kennedy to the mat, working his ground-and-pound.

The unbeaten Kennedy survived the first round. However, Volkanovski was dominating the fight and placing heavy takedowns. In the second round of the fight, ‘The Great’ took Kennedy to the canvas with a strong takedown. He dropped heavy elbows and punches, forcing the referee to stop the fight with just three seconds remaining, handing Kennedy the first defeat of his UFC career.

‘The Great’ put an amazing performance in his hometown at UFC 221, earning the 14th straight victory of his fighting career and fourth in the UFC.

Alexander Volkanovski vs Chad Mendes

‘The Great’ was unbeaten in his five previous fights before he faced the former title challenger Chad Mendes inside the octagon. Both the featherweight fighters exchanged heavy jabs in the first round of the fight. However, the round ended with both the men on their feet.

Mendes dropped Volkanovski a few times in the second round. However, it didn’t stop the Australian native. He bounced back from the takedowns and a submission giving Mendes a hard time inside the cage.

‘The Great’ dropped a hard left to the body, followed by a right hand to the chin that sent Mendes flat on the mat. Referee Mark Smith jumped in to stop the fight at 4:14 of the second round handed Volkanovski his sixth victory in the UFC.
