Nate Diaz came back after a two-year layoff to face the #3 UFC welterweight contender, Leon Edwards, at UFC 263. Their fight resulted in Diaz losing via unanimous decision. However, Diaz didn’t go down without a fight and put up a great show for the UFC fans. Now, many UFC fighters want to fight Diaz. That also includes the #8 UFC lightweight contender, Dan Hooker.
Hooker is on a 2-fight losing streak as he lost his last two fights against Michael Chandler at UFC 257 and Dustin Poirier at UFC on ESPN: Poirier vs. Hooker. ‘The Hangman’ wants to make a great comeback after his last two skids. He is willing to fight anyone at UFC 266, which also includes Nate Diaz.

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, the interviewer asked Hooker whether he is interested to fight Nate Diaz.
‘The Hangman’ replied – “Definitely, that fight has my interest. I had just seen the video of him saying he wants to get back in there in three or four months. And if you want to fight, put your hand up, and that’s something I am quite well known for, is putting my hands up for fights and taking opportunities and not staying silent in moments like that.”
“I am not afraid to ask for things that I want. I just see a good fight. I just feel I will bring the kind of fight that would do a Diaz brother justice, and it works in the timeline”.

Dan Hooker doesn’t plan to wait around for Nate Diaz
Hooker last fought on 23 January 2021. He is keen to turn his last two skids by making a comeback as soon as possible. Furthermore, Hooker has already been booked for the UFC 266 fight card. However, he still doesn’t have an opponent.
As Hooker said himself, he is the type of person who will ask for things that he wants. For now, he wants an opponent for UFC 266. That is precisely why he called out Diaz. However, he doesn’t plan to wait around for Diaz to accept his challenge.

In the same interview, Hooker said – “I’m not going to hang around and wait and hold my breath. That’s my date. I’ve got my date set. If he wants it, he wants it. If he doesn’t want it, I’m just going to chew my way down the list until I can get a name that says yes.”
If Diaz accepts Hooker’s challenge, it will probably be at a catchweight as Diaz fights at welterweight, and Hooker is a lightweight. Furthermore, it will for sure be an intriguing clash for the UFC fans and a great addition to the UFC 266 main card.
