UFC star Alex Pereira has to sit out for 60 days before he could start training for his move up to 205 lbs. The Brazilian fighter continues to undergo medical care to recover from the aftereffects of his devastating knockout loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287. Further, the timetable for his return and awaited debut at light heavyweight stands unknown.

‘Poatan’ is notably one of four fighters whom The Florida Athletic Commission handed a prolonged 60-day suspension for sustaining injuries at UFC 287. The commission oversaw the UFC 287 proceedings in Miami. However, the specifics of the injuries were not disclosed. In addition, the former UFC champion shares the 60-day minimum suspension with Shayilan Nuerdanbieke, Santiago Ponzinibbio, and Adrian Yanez, who also suffered a knockout loss on April 8.

However, the fans will not miss the fighter in action for long before he makes his lightweight debut later this year. A move to 205 lbs was frequently touted for the fighter who has a gigantic frame for a middleweight.

Also, fighters such as Kelvin Gastelum, Chris Curtis, and Gerald Meerschaert will serve a span of 45 days. On the other hand, Israel Adesanya escaped without getting named on the list.

How did the fans react to Pereira’s medical suspension?

While some fans theorized fighters don’t fight in such a brief span, others mentioned the knockout had a drastic impact on Pereira.
