On March 5th, 2023, Jon Jones made history by winning the UFC Heavyweight title at UFC 285. Jones defeated Ciryl Gane in the first round via guillotine choke. Jones joined the list of a handful of fighters who managed to clinch the gold at two different weight classes. Many counted the former Light Heavyweight champion out due to being on a three-year hiatus. Proving everyone wrong by an astonishing margin, ‘Bones’ defeated his opponent at UFC 285, in under 2:04 minutes of the very first round.
The former Light Heavyweight champion evidently put his heart and soul into training for this bout. Prior to the bout, Jones was seen training alongside former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo, while also taking valuable inputs from the Olympian. Interestingly, Cejudo is the only Olympic gold medalist to win a title in the UFC. Looking at Cejudo’s recent video, it seems like his advice to Jones proved to be extremely beneficial.

Cejudo’s priceless advice to Jon Jones ahead of UFC 285
Cejudo shared a training video recently. In the video, he can be seen demonstrating Jones a wrestling technique that is more effective on bigger fighters. ‘Triple C’ emphasizes the importance of not overworking oneself in a wrestling position. Instead, he advises Jones to switch positions and advance the takedown. It is safe to say that this is precisely what Jones did in his fight with Gane, and it paid off with a submission victory.

Cejudo posted the training video on social media and wrote, “Call me Mystic Triple C ’cause I predict deez tings!!!.” The use of the word “Mystic” is significant, as it was once coined by Conor McGregor for his sheer ability to predict his own fights. The video received a comment from ‘The Notorious’ himself. McGregor’s comment read, “That’s nice footage Henry.” However, with a possible change of mind, the Irishman has deleted the comment.
Conor McGregor and Henry Cejudo’s beef in the past
While McGregor’s comment may seem innocuous, it is worth noting that he and Cejudo have had beef in the beef. In 2022, Cejudo called out McGregor on social media, claiming that McGregor did not know what he was doing in training. McGregor responded by dismissing Cejudo as a “little fat novice” and telling him to be “quiet.”

At one time, things got fierce between the two fighters as Henry Cejudo even took a dig at Conor McGregor’s partner, Dee Devlin. Conor McGregor’s comment on Cejudo’s post is significant, given the past beef between the two fighters. No one knows whether this interaction will lead to any future developments in their rivalry. For now, it serves as a reminder of the drama and intrigue that surrounds the sport of mixed martial arts.
