“Dude Just Makes Himself More and More Unlikable Every Day”: Conor McGregor Snubbing Dustin Poirier of Hall of Fame Status Irks Fans the Wrong Way

Although he was considered to be one of the most popular UFC fighters at a point, Conor McGregor‘s recent controversies have landed him on the wrong side of the tracks. Be it the USADA fiasco or his assaulting the Miami Heat’s mascot – fans are not quite pleased with McGregor’s recent involvement with the UFC.

When Ariel Helwani comforted a defeated Dustin Poirier after UFC 291, saying that he didn’t need a BMF belt to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, Conor McGregor immediately took to social media to completely bash Poirier. The Irishman didn’t seem to think that Poirier was worthy enough and even poked fun at his accomplishments in the UFC.

The second fight between Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier ended quite differently from the first. Dustin Poirier was put to sleep by Gaethje in the second round, thanks to a head kick. The BMF title, that was on the line, was wrapped around the waist of Justin ‘The Highlight’ Gaethje.

Dustin Poirier was obviously disappointed and in an interview with Ariel Helwani was expressing his disappointment. Helwani immediately comforted Poirier and told him that he didn’t need a BMF belt to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. This rubbed Conor McGregor the wrong way.

The bitter rivalry between the two seemingly continues as McGregor has Tweeted ridiculing everything that Poirier has achieved.

Fans harshly criticize Conor McGregor for being ‘salty’

When McGregor started throwing shade at Dustin Poirier, fans were enraged upon seeing the Irishman dissing Poirier. When an Instagram post highlighting McGregor’s tweet toward Dustin Poirier went viral, fans flocked to the comment section to give ‘The Notorious’ a harsh reality check.

Comments like, “If Dustin “doesn’t belong” but he’s a better fighter than Conor than what does that say about Conor lmfao“, “Conor is so desperate to stay revelant while not fighting for ages.“, and “This dude just makes himself more and more unlikable every day. Dustin deserves the HOF without a doubt!!!“, were some of the many that were directed at the Irishman. 

One fan compared him to his friend and teammate Dillon Danis, but not in a good way. “McGregor is the new Dillion Danis all he does is talk crap on twitter to try and stay relevant.“, he said.

The bitter comments kept flowing in as one fan commented saying, “Definitely hall of fame hate or love dustin“, rooting for Poirier while another said, “At this point not sure if conner deserves the hall. Dustin definitely“. One fan didn’t hold back as he reminded McGregor of his defeats at the hands of Dustin Poirier by saying, “Dustin beat you twice. in no universe are you able to talk down on him.“.

However, there was one fan who agreed with McGregor. “It’s true…, he’s very good and entertaining, but not Hall of Fame.“, he said.

Dustin Poirier, who is still reeling from his recent loss to Justin Gaethje, hasn’t responded to this yet. And now that McGregor has been shut down by Justin Gaethje, will Poirier do the same?
