Former UFC Middleweight Champion Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya certainly did not sleep well last night. It was a shame to see the champ lose his latest fight in the 5th round via T.K.O. Since he was dominating the fight for most of the rounds but in the final round, Alex Pereira held on to his breath and launched a barrage of attacks as the last hurrah. This was enough to defeat the champion.

‘The Last Stylebender‘ might have lost the fight to ‘Poatan’ but he surely won the hearts of the spectators. He looked in control for most of the fight but lacked the will to evade Pereira’s last-round barrage. He even completed a successful takedown for the first time in his career and made sure that he grounded the Brazilian so that he can’t strike him.
Jon Jones tears apart Khabib sarcastically on Twitter
Khabib Nurmagomedov went on to Twitter, post-fight, and talked about how Adesanya could be on par with Jon Jones’s legacy if he defended his title against Pereira. Jon Jones, after seeing the tweet, replied hilariously.
I appreciate the kind words Champ pic.twitter.com/aUxY2x0YwC

Alex Pereira: An arch-nemesis Stylebender cannot see past
This was the 3rd time that both Adesanya and Pereira faced each other. For a stellar career, otherwise, Adesanya has lost all 3 times. Even though there were questions about the MMA skills of Pereira, he came through the test with flying colors. If the fight hadn’t ended due to T.K.O. ‘The Last Stylebender’ was on his way to a victory via decision. Although, in the end, Adesanya failed to defend his title.
However, if he had defended the title, he would have matched Anderson Silva’s record for most wins in the division with 13 and would have had 6 successful title defenses under his belt.

According to the judges, he was leading in the final score by 39-37 before the fight was stopped. Adesanya was on his way to yet another victory and the glory which would have followed. Although, this time, it was not meant to happen. One thing we know for sure is that Izzy comes back from his losses and avenges them.

What is left to be seen is if he can do the same against Pereira. What do you think, is 4th time the lucky charm?
