In today’s world of sports entertainment, it’s not enough to simply be a skilled fighter. UFC fighters must also be masters of self-promotion. Mic skills are essential for building their personal brands and attracting fans. This has led to a rise in fighters adopting personas to gain attention and generate hype for their fights.

One of the most notable examples of this is Colby Covington. He transformed himself from a relatively unknown fighter into a polarizing figure with a massive following. By adopting a brash, trash-talking persona and aligning himself with controversial figures, Covington managed to capture the attention of the MMA world and secure high-profile fights. Another fighter is next in line to adapt a similar persona as he made an electrifying post-fight speech at UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs Allen.

Bill Algeo replicates Colby Covington
Following in Covington‘s footsteps is Bill Algeo, who recently turned heel on the Kansas City crowd. This was after his victory over T.J. Brown at UFC on ESPN: Holloway vs. Allen. Algeo‘s performance in the fight itself was also impressive. He secured a submission victory over Brown with a rear-naked choke.

However, it was Algeo‘s post-fight comments that truly captured the attention of MMA fans. He insulted the Kansas City crowd and pledged to never retire in a “dump” like Kansas. “Listen, I would never retire in a dump like Kansas City. I look around here and all I see is a bunch of Croc-wearin’, Uber Eats drivin’, Bud Light drinkin’ … sons of guns. I ain’t never retiring! Woo!”
