Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has had a legendary career in the UFC. The Eagle won UFC gold while staying undefeated. During the Hall Of Fame 2022 event, Nurmagomedov was asked which moment from his career was the best. He picked a moment involving arch-rival Conor McGregor.
During the red carpet of the UFC Hall Of Fame event, Nurmagomedov said, “It was here – this arena – Oct. 6, 2018. Biggest fight in MMA history. I’m very happy I win this fight. I can lose any of my fights. But no way this fight.”

Nurmagomedov fought Conor McGregor on October 6th, 2018 at UFC 229. The fight between the two had immense hype around it and had garnered interest from people around the world.

The fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor holds the record for the highest-selling PPV(2.4 m) in UFC history. Because of the rivalry between the two, the fight garnered a lot of interest. However, it also lived up to the expectations of MMA fans.
In round 1 of their fight, The Notorious became successful in stuffing a takedown attempt from Nurmagomedov. However, The Eagle successfully landed a takedown in a follow-up attempt. McGregor spent most of the round seated until Nurmagomedov eventually worked him down and landed some strikes.

Round 2 of this fight was the best round for Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Eagle landed a huge right hand, which dropped McGregor. Although The Notorious landed a knee to the face of Nurmagomedov, it was of no use. The Russian fighter landed another takedown and landed vicious ground and pound on McGregor. However, Mystic Mac worked his way back to his feet in this one-sided round.

The third round proved to be better for Conor McGregor. He outboxed Nurmagomedov on the feet and also stuffed two out of three takedown attempts. However, the pace and beating of this fight had caught up to McGregor. The Irishman gave an early takedown in round 4 and then gave his back. From there, Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor via neck crank.
