It’s been two years since Conor McGregor last fought in the octagon. In his last fight at UFC 264, the Irishman suffered a brutal leg injury, prompting him to heal and take a step back from fighting. However, ‘The Notorious’ came back to the octagon but as a coach, leading Team McGregor in Season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter against Michael Chandler.

Since then, fans have been anticipating his return in the octagon against Chandler. The Irishman recently took to Twitter and shared a series of voice notes addressing issues surrounding his anticipated return. However, McGregor’s recent antics have garnered the attention of UFC star Darren Till, who, in his tweet, mocked McGregor.

Just a few days ago, UFC President Dana White revealed that Conor’s potential return to the octagon is expected to happen in 2024. And this likely led Conor to give an update on the entire situation. In the voice notes, McGregor shared that it no longer appears that he will return in December 2023. McGregor, with a tone of determination in his voice, said, “I’m ready, yeah! I’m ready. I wanted an announcement on December 16th. I’ve given everything.”

Despite his eagerness to return to the octagon, McGregor acknowledged the shifting circumstances, “So, you know, it’s not going to happen. It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.”

As Conor was pushing December 2023 for his return, with no news of him getting into the USADA Testing pool, it appeared that he might receive an exemption resembling the one granted to Brock Lesnar for UFC 200. However, that scenario no longer seems likely, so Conor shifted his attention.

USADA testing hindering the return

Addressing his plea for assistance, McGregor shifted his attention towards Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel and Nevada Athletic Commission Executive Director Bob Bennett, expressing, “Ari, my man, I’m ready, yeah. December 16, I’m ready. Anyone who wants to go. The Nevada State Athletic Commission, Bob Bennett, I know he retired, unretire.”

Mcgregor continued and added, “Tell him I’m around again. Ring Bob Bennett. Tell the commission what’s the story because I’m being kept from my livelihood here, and it turns out Bob’s retired.”

With Dana White confirming, it’s highly likely that Conor’s next fight in the UFC will happen next year. However, it’s still uncertain whether McGregor has re-entered the USADA testing pool. For him to return to the octagon, he has to remain in the testing pool for a minimum of six months.
