‘He Keeps Asking for More Money’- Jorge Masvidal Opens Up on Leon Edwards

UFC’s BMF champion, Jorge Masvidal has been out since his loss to welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 261. Masvidal suffered the first knockout loss of his long professional career in that fight. ‘Gamebred’ is currently eyeing a return to action later this year against a top contender to make himself relevant in the title picture again.
In his time away, Masvidal has launched a new bare-knuckle fighting promotion named Gamebred Fighting Championship. During a media event of that, he shared his thoughts on the recent 5-round contest at UFC 263 between Leon Edwards and Nate Diaz.

When asked about his view on the recent fight, the BMF said, “It’s a good fight, good performance I thought. Leon does what he does. And he keeps asking for more money, more things. But, he’s not a finisher, he’s not a fighter.”
“He was winning happily. And he wasn’t willing to put himself in the risk to go out there and get those finishes. That’s why I don’t think he’s in a position he wants to be. He’s not going out fighting every second of every minute. So, he’s a very skilled guy, but you know he just doesn’t have that will and meanness to go out and beat up a top contender the way he should,” he added.
Masvidal shares a brief history with both men. While Diaz is his former opponent, ‘Gamebred’ delivered the infamous 3-piece and a soda combo on Edwards in a UFC event in 2019.
Is Jorge Masvidal vs Leon Edwards the fight to make next?
Whilst Masvidal is looking for a top contender next, ‘Rocky‘ is looking to get his shot at the title. Given the history they share, it’s a fight fans would love to see. So, it only makes sense that the UFC puts that fight together.
