Anthony Smith submitted Ryan Spann in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Smith vs Spann this weekend. While the fight itself didn’t last too long, it was the post-fight scuffle between the duo that caught all the attention. Former two-division UFC champion, Daniel Cormier has reacted to the same.
“I have no problem with the way Anthony Smith just acted when you talk all that sh*t and you get beat the way Ryan Spann just got beat we don’t need to shake hands and hug Anthony is an OG and do not play. Really was an easy night for @lionheartasmith great job!!!#UFCVegas37,” wrote Cormier.

Smith and Spann both went after each other ahead of the fight. Both men came into the contest looking for a win and didn’t spare their opponent by any means leading up to the contest.
DC believes Smith is a true veteran and shouldn’t need to justify anything to anybody. He also brought up instances of his rivalry with Jon Jones.

‘Bones’ and DC had one of the most heated rivalries in the history of the UFC. Cormier has said that he didn’t embrace or hug Jones even after they actually fought.

So, it’s understandable why the heat carried on even after the contest concluded between Smith and Spann. Both light-heavyweights put a lot on the line for this one and they were visibly not done with it even after the conclusion of the contest.
What’s next for Anthony Smith after his win?
Smith has now managed to put together a 3-fight winning streak in the 205-lbs division since his loss to Aleksandar Rakic in 2020. ‘Lionheart’ has finished all 3 of his opponents in his last 3 fights. He has called out Aleksandar Rakic for a rematch by the end of the year. Whether that fight is made remains to be seen.

Smith, a long-time veteran of the sport, will look to get back into contention for the title once again after his recent good run. A win in his next fight can certainly help him with that. Who the UFC actually matches him up against next remains to be seen. However, Rakic and Prochazka are certainly good options.
