“I Walked to Him and Told My Wife…”: Gilbert Burns Recalls Face-To-Face Run-in With Rival Colby Covington
Gilbert Burns proved in UFC 283 that he is back stronger than ever after winning against Neil Magny. The victory of Burns in UFC 283 was, according to the fans, way too quick. ‘Durinho’ won the first round within 4:15 minutes through an arm triangle choke. The welterweight fighter shared his gratitude and happiness over winning the match with the press. The 36-year-old answered a variety of questions put forward by the media. One of them was about the former interim UFC welterweight champion, Colby Covington. Over time, Covington has gained popularity, and Burns was questioned about whether he liked Covington or if their relationship was still strained in light of Covington’s constant trash-talking. The answer given by Burns surprised everyone, he made a huge revelation about Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington.
Gilbert Burns’ weird conversation with Colby Covington
Durinho said “To be honest, I saw Colby three and a half months ago. I played the Guitar. They have a Brazilian concert… and I think he just left the poker room.” He continued “and I was passing by and I looked in there and said, there’s Colby over there and I looked at him. And I shook my head and he said, ‘Come here.’ And I said, ‘Oh, shit, it’s on.’”

Burns added “and I walked to him and told my wife to wait and I was ready and said, ‘What’s up?’ And he said, ‘I’m a huge fan, brother.’ And he was super cool. I’m pretty honest right now. I don’t have to lie. He was super cool. ‘Oh, I’m a huge fan. I’m a character. I just wanna make money, I appreciate you. I know you have a beautiful family’ and he was super cool. And it was getting a little weird because it was continuous for over two minutes. ‘Bro, I like what you did in your last fight’ and I was just like, ‘Man, look at this guy.”

Durinho commented later that Covington’s continual praising of him for more than two minutes was starting to seem weird. Many people were really surprised to learn about Chaos’s secret, pleasant side. The Brazilian UFC fighter is unquestionably the most fortunate to have seen the kind side of the UFC welterweight. It is true that in order to attract attention and popularity from the crowds, fighters must maintain a solid and notorious image. Furthermore, when it comes to the payment of fighters in the UFC, more eyeballs means more money.
At the moment, Burns is all set to capture the welterweight title. He has already faced some of the toughest opponents in the octagon and has beaten fighters like Stephen Thompson and Tyron Woodley. However, he is yet to face the #2-ranked Colby Covington. The audience needs to wait to find out if they get a chance to witness Durinho and Chaos coming face to face for the war.
