It was White’s gut feeling that brought MMA out to the worldwide audience. And it has struck gold. But, can he repeat the success with the bizarre slapping sport?

Dana White introduced a professional slapping competition

Slap Fighting is a pretty self-explanatory sport. In it, two professional slap-fighters take turns slapping each other faces off with their palm. The winner is determined by who can take more slaps without being knocked out. Also, slap fighters train intensively and practice their technique to deliver mighty slaps.

‘The Daily Show’ host and comedian, Trevor Noah, had his say on the matter. He didn’t hesitate to poke fun at the concept. Noah predicted “Those big dudes might be the champs for now, but it’s only a matter of time before the sport is dominated by immigrant moms…”, ridiculing the sport.

UFC‘s boss, White, saw the potential in this unpopular sport and decided to bring it to the mainstream.

The Nevada Athletic Commission officially licensed the ‘Power Slap League’ to host events in Las Vegas. Dana White has announced the Power Slap League at the UFC 280 event. The UFC boss posted it on Twitter and said BOOOOOOOM!!!! @powerslapleague”

But Dana White is excited about the future of the sport. It is these weird sporting concepts that usually strike a chord with the audience. Clearly, White sees potential in the sport.
