UFC commentator Joe Rogan has shared his admiration for Elon Musk on numerous occasions. The millionaire host of JRE is a fan of Musk’s work and shared his enthusiasm for Musk’s purchase of Twitter. However, Rogan almost cost Musk his NASA clearance once.

Rogan has hosted Musk three times in JRE. Their activities in one of those segments almost severely backfired on Musk. The podcaster dived deeper into the incident during a recent episode of JRE.

In episode #1903, of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan hosted stand-up comic Kurt Metzger. Rogan kicked off the show by pointing out how deep Metzger was smoking up. Rogan’s guest had an interesting response to his observation.

Metzger said that Elon Musk was a success because he smoked weed on Rogan’s show. The pair laughed off the hilarious observation, but Rogan added it was not true. Metzger continued the joke and argued his case, saying Musk actually did smoke on the show and he was very rich.

Interestingly, the 55-year-old added a bit of backstory related to the incident. He said, “I almost got him removed from NASA top clearance. We were drinking whiskey for like two hours before we hit that blunt.”

Rogan and Metzger then discussed how marijuana was legal in some states, but not in others. Rogan added it was legal in California and that Musk confirmed it with him. However, the pair noted how California State law and federal law were two different things.

Rogan said that since NASA had an issue with the incident, by definition, it was the government that had a problem with it. Rogan also disapproved of how marijuana was federally under schedule 1, meaning the government did not recognize it as having medical benefits.

What Howard Bloom told Rogan about NASA and Space X

During a conversation with Howard Bloom, Rogan talked about NASA and Space X. Bloom commended Space X for developing reusable rockets. He added how politicians involved themselves in matters of NASA and how their plans seemed financially illogical.

Bloom said NASA was allocating billions in the wrong areas and that there wasn’t enough to spend in areas that needed more focus. Bloom recommended letting private companies bid for the space ventures. He said, “Elon is going to bring it in for a tenth of the cost. Elon has developed… all of his rockets for approximately two billion dollars.”

According to Bloom, NASA spends around $30 billion where Musk spends two. Rogan asked if the politicians were able to dictate the scientists at NASA into developing these non-sustainable methods over the financially viable ones. Bloom responded affirmatively to Rogan’s queries.
