Jorge Masvidal stepped up on 6 days’ notice to fight Kamaru Usman at UFC 251 as the latter’s fight against Gilbert Burns fell apart. ‘Gamebred’ saved the main event of the first pay-per-view in UFC Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. He eventually lost a decision, but it was an impressive effort on his part to fly across the world and fight a savage like Usman on less than a week’s notice.

Nevertheless, Usman recently told ESPN that he couldn’t give his best performance in the fight against Masvidal due to the surroundings. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ believes he couldn’t showcase his full arsenal of skills. Obviously, those comments didn’t evade Masvidal’s attention, who provided a response on Twitter.

He wrote, “Showed up with a nose. Left with a broken nose. I get at least 3 weeks I take his head and the belt.”

It’s not surprising that despite winning, the champion wants to run it back against ‘Gamebred‘. Masvidal is currently one of the biggest stars on the UFC roster, so a fight against him is certainly enticing. However, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ needs to hold on to his belt for a while and Masvidal needs to put together a series of wins to ensure that the UFC books this rematch.

What’s next for Jorge Masvidal?

Masvidal is looking to get back in the title picture again. So is his former friend, roommate, and training partner Colby Covington. ‘Chaos‘ has indicated he wants to fight Masvidal next. It’s hard to imagine Masvidal wouldn’t want that too, considering the former’s recent attacks.

However, ‘Gamebred’ could turn his attention to Stephen Thompson too, which would make sense from a rankings perspective and ‘Wonderboy’s’ call-out in December.
