The 35-year-old UFC middleweight champion recently proposed a bet to Brendan Schaub and Khamzat Chimaev. Surprisingly, ‘Poatan’ won over the fans’ hearts as he promised the winnings to go to charity.
Alex Pereira proposed a $50,000 bet
The former UFC heavyweight contender, Brendan Schaub, previously opined on Khamzat Chimaev going against Alex Pereira. He claimed that ‘Borz’ could easily defeat ‘Poatan’ with his superior wrestling skills. However, Pereira didn’t back down. He proposed a $50 thousand dollars bet against Schaub.

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on ‘The MMA Hour’, Pereira confirmed Chimaev’s challenge. However, he revealed his displeasure at Brendan Schaub’s words. ‘Poatan’ said, “Brendan Schaub, I think he was running his mouth. Brendan talked a lot of crap that Chimaev would run me over and blah, blah, blah. He said Chimaev would be able to take me down in 30 seconds.”
Furthermore, he proposed a bet for Schaub. He proposed, “I’ll fight Chimaev in Rio at 205 and I propose a bet to Schaub. He’s running his mouth – $50,000 if I beat Chimaev. Those $50,000 from both sides, we donate to kids in need. Also, $50,000 more that I don’t get taken down in 30 seconds and we double those $50,000 to donate for the charity, too. Not only to Schaub, but Chimaev, too. If he wants to jump on the bet train, let’s bet. We’ll donate to the charities. A lot of kids are hungry today. Let’s make somebody happy.”
I’m in. Let’s do 100k. Zero disrespect to the Champ. Amazing fighter. I just like the match up for @KChimaev https://t.co/g8EvcNpzPi

Surprisingly, Schaub accepted the bet. Additionally, he revealed that he didn’t mean any disrespect to the middleweight champion. He wrote, “I’m in. Let’s do 100k. Zero disrespect to the Champ. Amazing fighter. I just like the match up for @KChimaev.”
Brendan Schaub thought ‘Poatan’ couldn’t defeat ‘Borz’
Schaub revealed his opinion about Pereira during a UFC 281 recap on ‘The Schaub Show’. He talked about Pereira’s victory over Israel Adesanya. However, the former MMA fighter didn’t believe in Pereira’s skills. He said, “I’m not taking anything away from Alex, but I don’t think he beats a single guy in the Top 5.”

Furthermore, he spoke about Chimaev’s tweet, where he challenged Pereira. Additionally, he said, “Khamzat beats the sh*t out of him. Khamzat mops the floor. Again, I’m not taking anything away from Alex. It’s all about matchups and styles and that’s a complete nightmare for him.”

The ‘Borz’ vs ‘Poatan’ matchup would in fact carry a lot of weight with the noble rivalry arising between the two. With Pereira’s proposed bet, things have indeed gotten a lot fiercer.
