“Loser Retires”: Dustin Poirier Declares “War II” After Justin Gaethje’s UFC 286 Victory, Sending Fans Into Meltdown
The co-main event of UFC 286 proved that Justin Gaethje still has plenty in the tank. Gaethje made sure that he kept up his reputation as one of the most violent fighters in the promotion. To reach his aim of winning the UFC lightweight championship, he made sure to destroy the surging fighter, Rafael Fiziev. The three-round bout was nothing less than a war. Gaethje made sure that he tried his best to break the confidence of his opponent with high kicks and jabs.
The two indeed succeeded in blowing the roof off the O2 Arena in London. With the victory, Gaethje strongly believes that he gets one more chance for a title bout. However, ‘The Highlight’ was not able to emerge victorious in the last two title shots he got. At the moment, if not a title bout, Gaethje’s next focus is earning a rematch against Dustin Poirier. After Gaethje’s victory via decision against “Ataman,” Poirier hints that even he is looking for a rematch.
