But, even with stellar takedown defense in the first round, the Brazilian was unable to defend herself from being taken to the ground in the second. Blanchfield grabbed onto her exposed back and submitted the Brazilian with a rear naked choke after a few seconds of resistance.

Initially, a lot of fans thought that a knee from his opponent, Nazim Sadykhov caused the deep cut. But later, ‘The Phenom’ himself pointed to a different cause that lead to the injury. He stated that it was a clash of heads that caused this severe bruise.

The UFC supremo, Dana White, initially questioned the stoppage but said that he would “STFU” after he took a closer look at the injury over Elder’s right eye.
