

In a piece of sad news to fight fans around the world, Russian MMA star Alexander Pisarev passed away from food poisoning. Pisarev’s father found the 33-year-old dead in his apartment in Moscow on October 30.

Initial reports stated that Pisarev ate a poisoned watermelon, which led to the incident. Pisarev’s wife suffered from the same and is currently hospitalized.

The news of Alexander Pisarev’s death made many fans distraught. Several fans expressed their condolences and sympathy for the fighter and his family in an Instagram post about the news. There were also those that expressed their suspicion over the mysterious circumstances of Pisarev’s untimely demise.

Wishing the grieving family well, one fan wrote, “I hope he rests in peace and his wife recovers soon.“

Mixed martial arts lost another veteran in 2022
In September 2022, the MMA world received yet another sad news. Former UFC star and TUF 2014 winner Elias Theodorou succumbed to death after a battle with cancer. Theodorou was only 34 years old.

According to a report, Theodorou was under treatment for colon cancer. Only those close to the athlete were privy to this information. Theodorou amassed a 19-3 record from 22 bouts. This also included his 8-3 run in the UFC, during which he won The Ultimate Fighter: Nations middleweight tournament. He also held notable wins over Eryk Anders and Sam Alvey. He exited the promotion following a loss to Derek Brunson in 2019.
