The stacked card on Saturday night offered fighters the chance to move upwards in the ranks and also a shot at returning to the winner’s column. Also, The Theater at Virgin Hotels on March 11 became the venue for closely contested fights. Similarly, a bantamweight fight involving Mario Bautista and Guido Cannetti attracted the fans’ attention as the American fighter emerged victorious in their encounter with one of the rarest sequences.

Notably, the 29-year-old, who came into the fight with a 3-win streak, picked up the victory in a dominant display via a rear-naked choke in the first round. Interestingly, a suplex led to the lock position, and his opponent quickly tapped out as a result.
What happened in the fight at UFC Las Vegas?
The American fighter came into the fight with a simple game plan and, to avoid exchanging blows, readily took the fight to the ground. Bautista successfully completed the takedown in the initial seconds of round 1 and did substantial ground and pound damage. But Cannetti scrambled with his physical strength, and cleared the leg but found himself in a leg lock.
Bautista suplexed Cannetti, caught his opponent in a lock, and forced a quick tap into a rear-necked choke position. Thus, staying true to pre-fight words, as he had promised to make quick work of his opponent. Therefore, he picked an impressive submission win in the first round itself while his opponent remained aloof and didn’t have any answers to what Bautista threw at him.
Later on, the victor, in the post-fight Octagon interview, called out another star from the division, the former UFC champion Cody Garbrandt. Markedly, Garbrandt broke his 2-loss slump as he picked a win at the recently concluded UFC 285 against Trevin Jones.
The #1 ranked bantamweight, Sean O’Malley, also closely witnessed the proceedings. Impressed by the MMA LAB team representative’s performance, he advocated for a performance bonus for him.
