Bellator MMA just lost a Welterweight fighter. Michael ‘Venom’ Page has walked out of the MMA promotion after his contract with the company expired. The fighter is a popular name in the MMA circle due to his unorthodox fighting style. He has fought some of the biggest names in the promotion.

When it comes to UFC’s biggest competition, the first name that comes to mind is Bellator MMA. Although fighters like UFC’s Conor McGregor and Bellator’s Dillon Danis have been friends, there is a stiff, neck-to-neck competition between the two promotions. Will Michael ‘Venom’ Page switch sides?

The fighter was recently interviewed by MMAFightingonSBN on YouTube. The interviewer then asked Page what’s on the agenda for him now that his 10-year glorious run with Bellator MMA has ended. Suggesting that UFC could be a good option for him, the interviewer took the liberty to assume that maybe Page has always wondered about joining the UFC.

You know, it’s this. I’m a person of competition. If there’s good competition out there, I always want to – I always see myself, you know, facing these fighters and like, I’d love to know where I… where I’d land, you know.” started Page. The fighter seemed confident about taking on ‘the top guys’. However, that was not all. ‘Venom’ then proceeded to drop a little ‘inside news’.

I’ve sparred with some of these guys before and people don’t understand that we don’t – we don’t kiss and tell anyway. But, people don’t understand that we do a lot of cross-sparring and I have sparred with many UFC athletes in multiple different divisions, um… and I kind of know to myself what level I can get to. So..“, he said.

Lastly, talking about wanting to join the UFC in the initial days, Page said, “UFC was the main brand. It did… there wasn’t really anything else about. So that’s always, you know that was always the goal, initially.”, in hopes of saving a slot for himself in the UFC.

First, a legend returns, and now inter-promotion transfers? Great times for the UFC?

Although UFC 289 was a major disappointment when considering numbers, it looks like the rough patch is over. UFC 290 was a major success – both in terms of revenue and general mass appeal.

2023 has been a good year for the promotion. Jon Jones returned to the UFC and became the UFC HW champ. UFC President Dana White found himself with a golden egg – a potential super fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. The two have already started training with their respective UFC trainers (fighters).
