Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier had one of the most heated rivalries in UFC history. However, that may not be alive for much longer if Henry Cejudo has his way. In a recent tweet, the former UFC double champion implored Cormier to consider burying the hatchet with ‘Bones.’ The 36-year-old also laid out examples of rivals that turned into friends to support his arguments. Furthermore, ‘Triple C’ called in a favor that Cormier owed him to get the ball rolling for peace talks.

Jon Jones recently made his heavyweight debut and won the title by beating Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. In the lead-up to the fight, Jones made it clear that he had no problem with Cormier commentating. The 35-year-old also added that he was willing to “let bygones be bygones.”

With Jones’ inclination to end the rivalry, Cejudo took it upon himself to reach out to Cormier for a conversation about making amends.

Henry Cejudo wants to initiate Daniel Cormier-Jon Jones peace talks

In a recent tweet, Henry Cejudo explained his reasons why Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones should bury their beef. The 36-year-old tweeted the same along with a video where he explained his reasons.

In the tweet, Cejudo wrote, “@dc_mma, I’d love to see you & Jon Jones make amends like @MightyMouse & I have. No matter how big of rivals you were, I know deep down there’s a special bond between you two that will last forever.”

Cejudo and Demetrious Johnson had a heated rivalry with both of them beating each other once each. The pair have buried their hatchet and often train together as well. Cejudo and Johnson share videos of their training sessions and give insights into techniques of fighting also.

In addition to his own self, Cejudo gave another example and remained DC of a favor he owed him.

Cejudo calls in a favor from Cormier

In the video that accompanied the tweet, Cejudo summed up how he and Johnson set aside their egos and are learning from each other. The former Olympian stated Cormier and Jones were “passionate competitive dudes” who complimented each other. Further, he mentioned Mexican boxers, Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales who buried their heated rivalry and became friends later in life.

The former two-weight champion also reminded Cormier that he owed him a favor. He explained how Cormier said “I owe you one” after Cejudo gave DC an interview with himself and Aljamain Sterling. “The King of Cringe” stated he was calling in the favor to have a conversation with Cormier about burying the Jones beef.

This might be easier said than done as Jones recently took another shot at Cormier for his commentary booth reactions at UFC 285.
