Robert Whittaker was meant to take on Paulo Costa at UFC 284. However, the match was canceled due to a reported failed contract negotiation on Costa’s end. The fighter had been denying signing anything at all during the lead-up to the cancellation.

Now, things are finally falling together as the two decide to go and lock horns at UFC 298. The next big pay-per-view will see Whittaker finally take on Costa who was last seen when he pulled out of his bout against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294.

Costa suffered a health complication and an infection that put him in the hospital for good. And so his fight with ‘Borz’ was called off. Meanwhile, Whittaker is still not done with ‘Stillknocks’ after his previous loss. The South African phenom knocked Whittaker out in the second round of his bout.

“I want that rematch,” said Whittaker on a brand new episode of the MMArcade Podcast. “I want to rematch him (Du Plessis) obviously that’s not what I’m thinking about at the moment. I want to fight Costa but Dricus is on a list of people I want to rematch.”

The aftermath of the knockout

Once Dricus Du Plessis had secured his win over Whittaker, he had yet another foe to face. And it was none other than former champion Israel Adesanya. ‘Izzy’ walked up to Du Plessis and went all up in his face. He snatched the mic away from Du Plessis when he tried to answer Joe Rogan’s question in the post-fight interview.
