UFC President Dana White Discloses Why He Failed to Put On a Stadium Show With Conor McGregor: “It Just Never Worked Out”

There is no denying the immense star power of former UFC double champ Conor McGregor. The Irishman, quite effortlessly, rakes in the biggest PPV numbers in the industry as a result of his popularity among the masses. While this has definitely helped the UFC in pulling huge numbers whenever McGregor fights, president Dana White recently made a stunning disclosure about an event that could have possibly turned out to be the biggest event in the promotion’s history. And not surprisingly, ‘The Notorious’ was a central part of this plan.
White revealed this information during his interaction with the media after successfully wrapping up UFC 286. Interestingly, he also disclosed McGregor‘s plans for his next fight, shutting down rumors surrounding his return.

Following UFC London, which turned out to be a massive success; The media asked the UFC boss if he wanted to repeat an event of similar proportions involving Conor McGregor. More specifically, the question was if the UFC had any plans of coming to Croke Park in Dublin, which has a capacity of 82,000 people.
The 53-year-old surprisingly disclosed that the promotion had already been in talks with the stadium authorities when the Irishman was a double champ.

“Well, obviously. When Conor was the champ and the double champ. I mean I wanted to do Croke Park so bad.” revealed White. Unfortunately, he then went on to claim that it was the logistics involved that made it hard for the plan to materialize.
He then said,”…logistically it just never worked out for us. We couldn’t get them to work with us, you know.”
Explaining that other factors also wouldn’t have worked out if an event of such proportion was to be carried out, White did claim that he’d love to one day have a UFC card at Dublin.
“…that wouldn’t have worked and obviously, we’d love to come back to Dublin too.”

As expected, they also enquired the UFC boss about the eventual return of the former double champ. Since McGregor was a part of the TUF shooting, which was very recently wrapped up, rumors about his potential comeback have been a focal point for media outlets of late.

Putting all speculations to rest; White declared he had no clue about the Irishman’s next fight. Moreover, he simultaneously shut down the chances of him making a return to Dublin.
“I don’t even know when he’s gonna fight yet. And his next fight definitely wouldn’t be in Ireland”

Unfortunately for MMA fans, this means a bit more waiting is to be done till UFC officially announces McGregor‘s return against Michael Chandler.
