Ever since announcing his retirement from the sport of MMA, Khabib Nurmagomedov has quickly moved on to the next chapter of his life. The former lightweight champion has taken on multiple roles, including that of a coach, philanthropist, and entrepreneur.
Most notably, Khabib Nurmagomedov acquired the Gorilla Fighting Championship, a Russian MMA promotion. He then renamed the promotion after his nickname, calling it ‘Eagles Fighting Championship’.
Recently, the Eagles Fighting Championship signed a massive deal with Gorilla Energy. It is of the biggest energy drink producers in the world, that’s based out of Moscow. Nurmagomedov and several of his teammates, including Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov attended a recent press conference, held in Moscow, to announce their deal with the Energy drink company.

Furthermore, now it seems like Nurmagomedov has shot advertisements for his sponsor. The 32-year-old recently shared a behind-the-scenes video of himself and his team members, enjoying a can of Gorilla Energy, at the foot of the Saltinsky underground waterfall in Dagestan.
Nurmagomedov has mentioned that he is working towards expanding the Eagle’s Fighting Championship as a top MMA promotion across the entire world.
A lucrative brand deal with Gorilla energy is certainly a step towards his ambitious goal. Over time, the EFC will look to pick up exciting fighters to add to their main events. According to Nurmagomedov, the EFC is planning to sign Adriano Martins and Will Brooks, both former UFC fighters. Considering his widespread popularity, Nurmagomedov could certainly take the EFC to great heights.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s fighting days might be over, but following the death of his father and coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the 32-year-old has taken on coaching responsibilities as well. Soon after his retirement, Nurmagomedov has been focusing on working with his younger teammates, including Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov.
According to Javier Mendez, head coach at AKA, Khabib has a knack for coaching and pushes all the athletes to the limit, hoping to bring out the best in them. As of now, Khabib is undefeated as a coach and is confident his successor, Islam Makhachev, will be a lightweight champion in near future.
