Khabib Nurmagomedov may be out of the game, but the game isn’t out of him yet. The Dagestani destroyer retired back in 2021 and now has completely stepped away from MMA in early 2023. Even after his initial retirement, he continued to be a cornerman and a coach to the likes of Islam Makhachev. However, now, his presence around the sport professionally seems lesser and lesser. Unless of course, he gets a chance to humiliate Olympic-level wrestlers.

In a recent video, Khabib can be seen grappling around with an Olympic silver medalist. Kadi Magomedov who is also a fighter for Bellator looked straight into the camera as he was being overpowered by the ex champ. The video went viral on Reddit and fans had hilarious reactions.

What Khabib Nurmagomedov did to the silver medalist

Nurmagomedov has a long and rich history of teaching and promoting fighters from Dagestan. Magomedov had great ties with the family of ‘The Eagle’. This led him to their school and methods of training where wrestling is a staple. The fighter is now a part of the Bellator roster after he joined the promotion in March this year.

In the video, fans can see Khabib hold down the 28-year-old with great force. The camera moves onto Magomedov’s face as he lies flat on the floor struggling against the power of the former UFC champion. Clearly, the student is yet to outdo his master. The question is, how long will it take for him to learn well?

Nurmagomedov himself hasn’t fought in a long time now but that doesn’t stop him at all. He’s previously spoken about how he’ll always be a competitor on the inside. The fighter only quit because he wanted to give more of his time to his family. The unfortunate early retirement came after Nurmagomedov lost his father.

Now, he spends his spare time training and taking opportunities to trash out Conor McGregor whenever possible. The ex-champ looked effortless and it was almost as if he didn’t even break a sweat while flawlessly dominating Magomedov. Fans of ‘The Eagle’ were thoroughly impressed and also took out some time to do the usual trolling.

Fans react to viral Khabib video

Some fans were pleased as usual while others pointed out how the short video could be taken out of context. Magomedov is a skilled warrior himself and there’s no way he didn’t challenge Khabib even a little bit. Here are some of the best takes.

“he hated seeing that camera”

“Why he looking at us like it’s our fault lmao”

“Silver Medal? Who giv him?”

Meanwhile, others praised Khabib’s initiative to train wrestlers transitioning into MMA.

“Khabib has something to teach every wrestler”

“Bro has mastered grappling”

“Gawd just shows you how great his game is, just big chillen an still has alllllll the tricks (plus that dad strength now)”

Finally, some fans pointed out how the small clip can easily be misconstrued and twisted to show that one of the two fighters was being dominated.

“What a sh*tty thing to do … putting a camera straight to his face to publicly humiliate him…”

“Not cool to release footage of an accomplished athlete appearing to be dominated. Such a short clip easily misconstrued”

Clearly, the clip was not enough evidence of Nurmagomedov’s dominance for some fans. Their doubts were well-placed, however, the video was clearly from a sparring session. If Magomedov wants to go far with his Bellator or wrestling career, he’s going to have to get used to being out-grappled for a while. On the other hand, it’s good to see ‘The Eagle’ still soaring high on the mat. Who do you think won that sparring session?
