When Alex Pereira Gifted a Superbike to Long Time Ally Glover Teixeira and Displayed His Rare Side

Alex Pereira is one of the greatest kickboxers ever. The first and only champion to hold two Glory titles at the same time, he is a former middleweight and light heavyweight title holder in the promotion. However, motivated partly by former kickboxing opponent and (at the time) UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya talking trash about him, he started to train in MMA.
One of the most important people who helped and guided him from a kickboxer to a mixed martial artist was former UFC champion Glover Teixeira. And to show his appreciation for the American, Pereira surprised Teixeira with a very special gift earlier this year.

In June this year, Alex Pereira gifted friend and coach Glover Teixeira a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. ‘Poatan’ surprised his mentor and delivered the bike to the former light heavyweight champion’s home, drawing praise from fans and fellow fighters alike.
Teixeira was touched by the gesture and thanked Pereira for his friendship and kindness, adding that ‘Poatan’ had helped him more than he had helped Pereira. The Brazilian said that he wanted to repay Teixeira for being his mentor and an inspiration.

Teixeira, one of the oldest UFC champions, won the light heavyweight title at the age of 42 by defeating Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267 in 2021. Pereira has been training at the American’s Teixeira MMA gym since making his transition from kickboxing to MMA.
The former two-division Glory kickboxing champion has his eyes set on the same 205-pound title that his coach formerly held. He will face Czech striking maestro and former champion Jiri Prochazka for the main event of UFC 295 on November 11.

Pereira looks to avenge Teixeira against Prochazka at UFC 295
Pereira and Prochazka’s headline bout is expected to be an electrifying affair. Both men possess elite-level striking, with Prochazka’s flamboyant style going against Pereira’s technically correct and powerful striking. The bout assumes added importance given that the Czech had defeated Teixeira for the light heavyweight title. Prochazka had to vacate the title before their rematch, however, due to a shoulder injury. And Pereira will have a chance to avenge his mentor and become a two-division champion in the UFC, too next week.

While his performance against Jan Blachowicz on his 205 debut was concerning, many feel it was because the Pole took the fight to the ground, Pereira’s weakest link. Against the Czech however, it is almost guaranteed that the bout will be a largely stand-up affair, which Pereira would prefer as well as Prochazka. Which is why fans are excited to see the two fight. And, assuming there are no injuries, we might not only see a new light heavyweight champion at UFC 295 but also get to know who the best striker in the UFC really is.
