Even the UFC CEO couldn’t help admitting that the current UFC featherweight king, Alexander Volkanovski, is truly a stud. Reports say that ‘The Great’ didn’t even hesitate once before accepting the UFC 294 fight against Islam Makhachev after his scheduled opponent, Charles Oliveira, pulled out of the bout. However, ‘Volk’ may have wanted some more time to prepare since he had already lost once against Makhachev. But the spirit of ‘The Great’ is simply something else.

Most UFC fans probably know about this and a lot of his other UFC affairs. But a lot of them may be in a gray area when things come to ‘Volk’s’ personal life. Although the Australian drops short references to his family amidst his UFC in-octagon interviews, he has never really talked openly about them in any of his public appearances. Let’s try providing those fans with some information about Volk’s early life and current family.

Volkanovski has mixed ancestry. His father, Tony Volkanovski, is of Macedonian descent and was born in Yugoslavia. ‘Volk’s’ mother, Mary Volkanovski, is of Greek origin. The famous conqueror Alexander the Great’s name, who also had a Macedonian-Greek origin like himself, inspired Volkanovski. Thus, he decided to use a part of The Great Conqueror’s name as his own fight moniker. This is why ‘Volk’ is also known as ‘The Great’.

Even at 35, Volk is thoroughly attached to his parents. But his love also takes a mischievous turn quite often. The Instagram post by ‘Volk’ given below stands as proof of the mischief he often chooses to do with his beloved parents.

Reports say that he has an older brother who is a fighter as well. Although ‘The Great’ is currently one of the most renowned MMA fighters around the world, ‘Volk’ got into sports with wrestling, then he shifted to rugby when he was 14. He began his athletic career as a semi-professional rugby player for the Warilla Gorillas. At 23, the Australian finally made up his mind to enter professional MMA, and the rest is pretty much history.

Alexander Volkanovski’s daughters and wife

A lot of fans may be ignorant about Volk’s personal life. But the ones who know about it will probably agree that he is a complete family man in his life outside the UFC. The name of ‘The Great’s’ wife is Emma Volkanovski. Reports say that the couple tied the knot on October 12, 2012, and have continued their loving relationship for over a decade now.

Emma Volkanovski is said to be a fitness freak. She completed her education at the University of Sydney with a B.Sc. degree in psychology. Emma grew up in Sydney with her farmer parents, John and Rose Harris, and younger sisters, Jessica and Carmella Harris. She is one of ‘Volk’s’ most ardent supporters, and she has been seen at several UFC events.
