He also said that the PFL requires the fighters to be updated in their style. ‘Rush’ mentioned, “The fighters have to modify their training because they have to peak multiple times each year. They are busier than they would be fighting at championship level for organisations like the UFC and Bellator.”
He further talked about a disadvantage but implied that it was worth it all looking at the insane prize money which was given to the winner. He iterated, “The fighters have to be fresh all of the time but I like it because it gives them the opportunity to make a lot of money”.
Georges St-Pierre appreciated the PFL helping fighters earn money
St-Pierre glorified the PFL for handing out $1M winning bonuses to the six winners of different weight divisions of their promotion. He stated, “$1million can change the life of a person”. MMA fighters take unparalleled punishment to make money. ‘Rush’ was evidently pleased to see fighters getting the worth of how much they put on the line.
The noted MMA fighter, Brendan Loughnane, secured a win over Bubba Jenkins to claim the featherweight title. Kayla Harrison also got the Women’s Lightweight back to her name and bagged the third $1M prize in the span of the past three years.
St-Pierre was one of the highest-paid fighters in the UFC at his time. However, he also noticed the issue of fighters receiving very meager payments for fights. In his efforts to curb these unwanted issues, ‘Rush’ joined the MMA Athletes Association in 2016. He took further steps to improve the revenue disparity.
