Despite his disorientation, Angle was expected to continue the match and pretend to be knocked out, but he had no memory of the events that followed.

Angle revealed, “They carried me through the match, and there were spots where I had to duck, and they actually pulled my head down to hit someone else when I was supposed to duck, and I couldn’t do it. I was out there just being a dead human being.”
He also discussed his backstage struggle to remember his lines. Stephanie McMahon was supposed to provide instructions for his return to the match. Vince McMahon eventually instructed the use of smelling salts to revive him.

He revealed that his upper body strength had been greatly diminished. With him only able to lift 20-pound dumbbells for curls and 60 pounds for triceps exercises.
