When Conor McGregor Explained Why He Wouldn’t Want to End Up in a “Clinch Fight” With Ronda Rousey

Conor McGregor has risen to greatness in the UFC. From humble beginnings, ‘Mystic Mac’ has crafted a life of fame and fortune through his performances in the octagon. McGregor has an immense passion for mixed martial arts, and he never fails to appreciate fighters who do well. Similarly, the former 155-pound UFC champion once spoke highly of Ronda Rousey.
During an interview with Sports Illustrated, McGregor mentioned Rousey is someone he wouldn’t like to compete against in a clinch fight. ‘Mystic Mac’ believed Rousey would immediately take him to the ground.

The former two-division champion said, “I certainly would not like to end up in a tie-up with Miss Rousey! I remember one time when I’d seen her, and I greeted her and I said ‘what’s up champ?’ and we embraced.”
Further complimenting Rousey, McGregor said, “I swear on my life her back muscles were the solidest (sic) back muscles I’d ever felt in my life. I thought if this lady was to get a hold of me, she would throw me on my head in literally one second flat. So I would not like to engage in a clinch fight with Ronda.”

McGregor’s ability to promote a fight impressed the 2008 Olympic gold medalist in Judo even when injured. She wrote, “I’m amazed that as soon as you hit the ground you were already promoting the next fight @TheNotoriousMMA – I def wouldn’t have had the mind to do that.
