“He Doesn’t Want To Fight Anymore” – Josh Barnett Shuts Down a Return For Brock Lesnar

Former champion Josh Barnett chimed in on the possible UFC return of Brock Lesnar. The MMA world has been bubbling with the reports claiming that Lesnar could step inside the cage after a four-year hiatus. He last competed in 2016 at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt in a fight that was overturned to a no-contest.

Several fighters and fans are wary about the return as they believe it to be a ploy to leverage a better pro-wrestling deal. Former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett certainly falls under the aforementioned category.

Initial reports about Brock Lesnar’s contract with WWE led to rampant speculations. Historically, he has flirted with the idea of returning to active competition whenever his pro-wrestling contract expired.

Brock Lesnar vs Jon Jones?

Despite being 43 years old, Lesnar’s athletic prowess makes him a must-watch athlete. The recent move up to the heavyweight division by Jon Jones has led to speculations surrounding a possible fight.

The two have been on a collision course ever since Jones called Lesnar out at UFC 214. The MMA community has been pining for the fight to materialize given the sheer spectacle it promises to be.

The former light heavyweight champion relinquished his championship to test the heavyweight waters. As a result, top contenders in Jan Blachowicz and Dominick Reyes will contest for the vacant 205 lb gold. Jones’ transition to heavyweight has also opened up several possibilities in his new weight class.

Furthermore, Brock Lesnar will be keen to legitimately defeat ‘Bones’ inside the cage. However, there are certain clear-cut barriers for Lesnar given his history with USADA testing. He will have to re-enter the testing pool for a minimum of six months before entertaining a return.
