No introduction is necessary for Jackie Chan, the ultimate in action comedies. People all around the world adore Chan for who he is as a person and as a tremendous actor, making him a phenomenon much beyond his Hollywood fame. During the height of his fame, he was also infamous for the daredevil feats he performed, some of which landed him in the hospital. Chan had to put in a lot of effort to become as famous as he is now. On top of all his hard work in the film business, he attributes his success to his devoted fan base. Yet there was one instance when Chan was downright frustrated?about his stardom.

In Chapter 35 of his autobiography, Never Grow Up (2015), Jackie Chan expresses his gratitude to his fans for their support throughout his career. In addition to recalling the many times his supporters made him feel loved and appreciated, Chan also reflects on the times they made him feel embarrassed or frustrated.

The fandom of Jackie Chan

Life as a famous actor may seem perfect, but as Jackie Chan discovered, occasionally the tables are turned. He’s reminded of how much his fanbase adores him since he often runs into admirers everywhere he goes, and some of them even follow him around when he travels or is simply out and about. While Chan appreciated the efforts his admirers made to see him, he eventually became tired of the constant attention he received whenever he left the house, even to visit his close friends in the neighborhood. Despite with his stealthy efforts, Chan couldn’t escape the gaze of his admirers.

In his autobiography, Chan mentions the frustration of his situation, saying, After going through this a few times, it began to feel awful. I couldn?t go anywhere, couldn?t even pop out to get some food. At night, as long as my light was still on, they wouldn?t sleep but would keep waiting. I like to stay up late but didn?t want to keep them up, so I?d block the crack beneath the door with a hotel towel so they wouldn?t be able to see my light and I wouldn?t have to worry about going to sleep as late as I liked.?

The uniqueness of the martial artist turned actor

Jackie Chan, or Chan Kong-sang, was born in Hong Kong in 1954 and is often regarded as the most well-known actor of Asian descent. The fact that he started acting professionally as a youngster shows that he had a natural gift for the role. At the beginning of his career, Chan appeared in a number of little films and even worked as a stunt guy in a few Bruce Lee films. But after Bruce Lee’s era, Jackie Chan took over and pushed it forward by inventing action comedies.Soon, he surpassed all other actors in his field.

One thing that set Chan apart was his preference to do his own stunts without the assistance of a stuntman. Unfortunately, not every stunt was successful, and several led to the celebrity needing medical attention. Chan has suffered many fractures to his nose, ribs, ankles, and legs during the course of his career. His spine, pelvis, and shoulders are all out of alignment. Nevertheless, the icon remains unstoppable.
